Integra

Despite the fact that our seaside season is over thanks to all of the rearrangements we have to do in our house to make sure it is ready to welcome our little bundle of joy, we haven’t left there without having a great lunch at one of the first places we tried out in Constanta: Integra. This place was recommended to us by one of my best friends and the thing I loved about it even before arriving there is the fact that they have a raw-vegan menu packed full of delicious dishes. Naturally throughout the years I have tried most of the raw menu and I have to say, that thanks to this place my mind was changed when it came to the raw-vegan cuisine.

I do not think we ever went to the seaside once without having a meal at this lovely place. True, it does have the location advantage, meaning that it is at about a 10 minute walk away from our place there. At first glance, the place looks very nice and the interior design is a nice combo of fresh plants and lovely marble which immediately make you want to take a seat. The menu has about everything you could ever crave, somewhat of an international cuisine with a little turkish mix of dishes. And then, of course, there is the raw-vegan menu, where you literally can find everything from appetisers, soups, pasta, pizza, desserts and even a few amazing fresh cocktails.

IMG_5247

Back to our last experience there…unfortunately, we couldn’t take as many inside pictures as we would’ve liked as the place was quite full at the time we were there and there’s always that uncomfortable feeling when you take pics of total strangers, but you can find quite a lot of photos on their site. Normally, this is the place we choose for our before the road lunch or brunch, depending on how early we wake up. This time it was definitely lunch time and because we knew we had next to nothing in our fridge at home, we decided on a full lunch: soup, main dish and a shared a raw dessert. As usual when we eat there, we start off with one of their amazing fresh raw juices, this time choosing Green energy and Fountain of Youth. These two cocktails are amazing and very healthy especially after a busy night at the seaside. Like I said, we both ate a soup, I went for my usual tomato soup which is a must-try and D chose the lentil soup which turned out to be better that I expected. As main courses I needed something savoury and light so I went for the oven cooked feta cheese with tomatoes and onion that was absolutely delicious. D chose the beef Iskender that besides looking amazing it tasted like heaven, and that, coming from me during this period where meat is the last thing that I crave, is something! As for dessert we chose to share the Rainbow Tart from the raw-vegan menu. As with all their raw-vegan dishes, this was delicious!

IMG_5258

Despite the restaurant being full, the food came decently quick and the staff was very friendly and professional. This place is not among the cheapest nor among the most expensive, our three-course lunch cost us about 40 E tip included which is really good for Constanta, especially since the food is so amazing. We will definitely come back here as often as we will come to Constanta!

Seaside season is officially over…for us…

…But that is not the topic of today’s post! No, today we are going to talk a bit about the new and very popular hashtag: #mermaidthigs as opposed to the former #thighgap. Now I am not going to talk about body shaming or anything, but rather about my experience going from one # to the other in the course of a few months. This is somewhat natural and beautiful, especially if the making of a new life is involved. While last year I was happily sporting a thigh gap thanks to healthy eating and almost daily gym sessions, the past few months have thought me that pregnancy is not easy on the said thighs therefore I find myself at the point where I can barely see a thigh gap and am slowly but surely coveting to the new mermaid thighs trend. No, this is not due to unhealthy eating, this is my body’s natural response to the hormonal battle that takes place inside me and to the fact that I am eating a bit more nowadays (about 300-400 kcals more a day).

The first batch of photos is from last summer, roughly about the same period as the second and third batches of photos. After I will give birth, I will use these photos and this post to motivate myself into getting back in shape until the summer of 2017. No, that does not mean that I will diet like a crazy person, but it does mean that I will try and go to the gym as often as a newborn baby will allow me.

The second batch of photos is from almost a month ago, when I was 14-15 weeks pregnant. This is the period where I think I felt the worst about my body image, as, honestly, I felt like a whale, but that was mostly due to the transition period from the first trimester to the second.

This third batch of photos was taken this week, during my 18th week of pregnancy, and even though I look bigger that I used to a few weeks ago, I must confess that I feel a lot better about myself and I think that is due to the fact that my hormones are at a better stage now, in the second trimester. This is the point where I noticed the lack of thigh gap and the transition to mermaid thighs. During this time I chose to wear one-piece swimsuits as that seemed to work best with my not yet fully rounded belly.

All in all, I can’t really say that I do not feel good in my skin, true, I felt a lot better last year, but I am well aware that I have to come to terms with the way my body carries a pregnancy as there is nothing I can do about it and stressing over it will not help. The swimsuit season is officially over for us, not necessarily because of the weather, but rather because in a week we will start redecorating our house. We will keep you updated on that as well.

The first three months…

As you’ve probably noticed our posts tend to be in sets of threes lately and that is purely coincidental with the fact that soon there will be three of us posting here. No, in fact it has nothing to do with that and everything to do with the fact that we have been gone a lot lately, our house is a mess as we are doing a bit of redecorating/ baby-proofing and my constant tiredness. Taking each of these into consideration you’ll have to excuse my lack of daily posts and I promise that as soon as I can I will be back on track.

Back on the topic of today’s post subject: the first trimester of pregnancy. This is solely my experience and so far I have come to the conclusion that everyone experiments this time totally different, but here it goes… For the first five weeks we were’t even been aware of the miracle that started to form inside me, no sickness, not much actually, except for a feeling of constant lack of energy which, beside a few painful episodes and my period being late, have convinced us that it was time for a medical check -up. You’ve read all about the very emotional news we got at the doctors’ in this post here, so I will just skip the first five weeks altogether as I feel that most women do not really acknowledge the pregnancy until later on.

For me, the first three months have been bliss, especially if I compare my experience with some other women’s first trimester. I did not get any sickness at all, morning or otherwise so that helped me function a bit better throughout the whole period. I did however experience episodes of extreme sleepiness to the point that I wasn’t able to drive anywhere. As a matter of fact, this has only changed well into my forth month, but it did get better in time. Nor did I experience any weird cravings, but I did feel the need to eat a bit more (bout 300-400 kcals extra), but luckily, I mostly craved vegetables and fruits. I’ve noticed that meat, in any form makes me sick, and I do not mean sick as in throw up, but sick as in it did not feel right for my digestive system (but I suffer from this for a few years now – so no surprise there). Therefore, if you ask me, my weight gain has been constant and I have gained 1 kg per month and it still goes at that rate right now.

I was very aware of the fact that the first trimester is full of risks so I did try and not overdo it, but despite that, sometime in my 9th week I experienced a bit of bleeding and this is where I think that all future moms should be very careful! When I looked it up online, dr. Google kept telling me that it was normal, but when I called my doctor he immediately gave me hormones and it’s good that he did as a week later, at the ultrasound we discovered a small hematoma near the baby that healed nicely thanks to the hormones, but if not treated properly, it could’ve cause us to loose the pregnancy! So there you have it: my relationship with dr. Google is finished forever! All future moms should stay clear of looking for medical stuff online! I took the nasty hormones for almost two weeks and I have to say that that was the period when I actually felt the worst, not physically, but emotionally. Those hormones made me feel horrible, either having a rage attack (luckily most of the times I was by myself) or being emotional af (which really sucked BIG!). Once I was done with them, my old self started to resurface and I was yet again being the happiest person alive!

Another annoying first trimester symptom was the constant bloating and feeling full. This is super uncomfortable because you feel and look like you are in your fifth month when in fact you barely past your second, and you have this constant feeling that it is because of all the food you are eating, when, in fact, there is not much extra food you are actually eating during this time. Also, because of the horrible bloat, not many clothes fit or look right and that tends to be a big blow to the morale of a pregnant woman that already is hormonal and emotional most of the time. I was very lucky because of my entire work arrangement. I have no idea if I’ve told you by now, but I work with and for my parents which left room to a big advantage right when I needed it most: I got to stay at home from the second month because of the fact that I was longer able to drive to work thanks to the constant sleepiness. This was a great gift especially during the bloated days, and no, I did not get bored at home, I loved every minute of sleeping during the day! Hey, I’m an only child, I never get bored of myself!

Despite me feeling amazing on the inside, my exterior looks had take an beating! I mean, maybe there is such a thing as a pregnancy glow, but all I got were greasy patches on my face, quite a few pimples that made me change my beauty routine and my thighs have become the paradise of cellulite. These are all symptoms of the hormonal changes happening in my body and can be reversed for the most part once I am ok after giving birth. I call all these changes the living proof that something amazing is happening inside my belly and I try as much as I can to either ignore them (I have become rather good at it) or embrace them. My beauty routine has switched from SEPHORA to the Pharmacy (more details in a Pregnancy Beauty post) and as for my cellulite, I try as good as I can to hide it either with clothes, a big SMILE (it takes everyone’s attention off it) or with the perfect non-toxic self tan from Vita Liberata (review here). To be honest, the best recipe is the self tanner!

The thing that most definitely contributed to my cellulite reserves, besides the hormones, is the fact that my doctor forbade me to go to the gym for the entire period of the pregnancy. He did allow me to go swimming, but since I am afraid of the water, all I am really doing, exercise wise, is to take a few long walks per week and right now to go through all my clothes and shoes in order to re-arrange the dressing room – the first steps to overhauling our house. This was a blow at the beginning, but since it is for my own good, I embraced it and I will use this as motivation for my post-baby body. All in all, I do understand where my doctor is coming from and I will never take any chances where my pregnancy is concerned. Aside from that, there is nothing that he forbade me to do, so I guess I am very lucky so far.

I did have a lot of medical investigations to make in the first trimester, most of them were blood investigations, and I did manage to pass them nicely. The first morphologic ultrasound was very good, and as a matter of fact the baby is a few days ahead than what we thought, possibly due to the fact that I have been relaxing and taking good care of my diet. We did travel a lot during the first trimester (Madrid – even though we were not aware at the time, Milan, Paris, Cluj, to the seaside a couple of times), and no, there were no problems because of that, as a matter of fact it feels nice to know that our bundle of joy was with us everywhere and that there were no incidents during or after the time. In fact, I think that the baby actually enjoyed all these short trips!

All in all, I can honestly say that this is the best period of my life! Do not get me wrong, 90% of the blame is on D as he has been the most amazing and perfect father-to-be! I seriously couldn’t have asked for a better husband and partner during this time. I am convinced that the fact that I have been feeling so great during this time is thanks to him and all his efforts! He understands me like no other, he doesn’t let me do anything in the house, all he lets me lift is a small bottle of water, he is there no matter what I need. This is really important during this period as thanks to him my spirits have been sky high!

We decided not to have one of those growing belly photoshoots that tracks how huge I am getting every month, but we do try and take as many pictures of ourselves throughout this period as I think that both of us will suffer some physical changes for the better. I will soon post a slideshow of photos from the first trimester to let you see how we have evolved during the time.

Zahana 33

Since summer is here and our European getaways have come to an end for now, we decided to run to the seaside for the weekend and try and find more great, safe places to eat there. It’s very important if you decide to come to Romania for a seaside adventure, to be very careful where you eat, as a lot of places tend to be mediocre at best with prices as high as a Michelin star restaurant. It’s also best if you try and steer clear of beach restaurants. There are a few that we’ve tested throughout the years that are both excellent food wise, offer a very nice atmosphere and are conveniently located on the beach so you can grab a quick lunch or dinner.

IMG_4716

IMG_4696

One of those places is the newly opened Zahana 33. I say newly opened because they just opened one restaurant in Mamaia at Hotel Lido, but they have a few years of experience in Bucharest – where we first fell in love with their food. This is a traditional Romanian restaurant that has its own meat preparing secrets and basically what you get in your plate you won’t be able to find anywhere else as the chef keeps his tricks very well hidden. Since we brought the chef into our discussion, his name is Catalin Jernoiu and everyone that actually knows something about gourmet food will know right then and there that this restaurant is a must try. Usually you can find the chef at the seaside during the weekends and in Bucharest during the week, so my recommendation is to visit the two restaurants accordingly. I will not spend anymore time on the Bucharest restaurant as we want to review that one as well, so from this point on we’ll only going to talk about the one at Hotel Lido in Mamaia.

IMG_4715

IMG_4713

First and foremost, it’s best if you call ahead and make a reservation, especially during the weekends when it tends to be quite full despite the very big terrace. Even though they do have an indoor restaurant where you can enjoy your dinner, let’s be serious, if you’ve come at the seaside, you probably do not want to spend a minute inside during the day, so it’s best to call ahead. The overall atmosphere is not of a gourmet type restaurant, even though the food is, and everyone should feel quite comfortable there, especially since you don’t feel like you are either overdressed or underdressed. That was achieved thanks to the very casual, very beach appropriate design that combines the feel of the old classic Romanian restaurant – wooden furniture, with the beach feeling you should get while on vacation – various marine elements, including a full burlap rooftop. The staff is very friendly and professional which brings the whole experience to perfection.

Getting to the food part of this review. We went there several times and the one time we did take our camera with us, we were 8 at the table which is why we got to photograph as many dishes as we did. First of all, this being a meat specialised place it’s a pity to not have a meat based dinner, however, they offer quite a wide variety of courses that elegantly avoid meat if you decide that meat is not your thing in the evening. As you know, this is one thing that is a must for me in order to actually put together a restaurant review because, despite the fact that I am not a declared vegetarian, I do enjoy vegetable or cheese based food more that meat based ones. Despite that, knowing how well the meat is prepared here, I ordered something meaty to eat. You should not miss the appetisers as all of them are delicious. As you can see from the photos, you can find a very wide variety of dishes, as well as some of the chef’s specialties, and I have to say that everyone at our table was absolutely ecstatic and full at the end of our dinner. Besides the amazing appetisers, meat and fish dishes – that everyone that ordered fish said it was amazing, but as you know, I didn’t try it – you can’t leave without trying one of their amazing desserts that do not need any description as the pictures speak for themselves.

The wonderful thing about all the food is that, as you can spot from the photos we took, each dish has a certain type of plate which always keeps you guessing an gives the place a very original feel to it. The whole evening, our dinner was accompanied by live music sand by a Greek band which completed the whole experience and made us want to return the next evening. Price wise, I’d say that you pay a lot less than what the food is worth, but on a greater scale, this is a medium priced restaurant, therefore you get the services and food of a very expensive one, but when the check comes you start wondering why you tried other restaurants thus far. This is one of those rare safe places to eat on the beach in Mamaia, so I suggest you give it  a try!

AHOY!!!

It seems that these fashion posts appear more often lately, but that’s only because we both love dressing up nicely during the warmer months. Wait until the bad weather comes and you’ll see more and more posts from other categories as my uniform in the winter is composed strictly out of skinnies and Uggs. I consider those the boring months. For some reason I can’t seem to find any inspiration during the nasty winter months. Well, we’ll just take it one season at a time.

IMG_3027

No matter what we do, we always seem to be coming back to the oh-so-neutral navy and white striped combo. I guess it’s because both of us love going to the seaside so much and until now, we haven’t had the chance to wet our toes into the chilly Black Sea. We did however made the decision to not let July pass without at least one visit to the seaside. The tricky part about July is that it’s quite full with all sorts of stuff (Euro 2016 final – we’re off to Paris), just as crazy as June turns out to be (more details about out travel itinerary next week). What better way to bring the seaside to Bucharest if not by wearing stripes? D went all the way and wore both his boat shoes and his anchor pattern shorts. Unfortunately, I couldn’t convince him to wear red harts as an accent to fully match my outfit, but I think he did a pretty good job despite that.

IMG_3031

Since the main theme was us missing the seaside, I decided to wear this lovely but oh so short dress from H&M that I got last year. I love everything about this dress, starting with the 3/4 sleeves and finishing with the fact that it has pockets. I just love everything with pockets and finding dresses that have pockets is really, really hard. Since I didn’t want to repeat the Christian Louboutin navy shoes I wore here, I opted for my Melissa x Vivienne Westwood Dragon Lady white shoes with a big red heart on top. I remember a few years ago (four, I think), these shoes were so popular and so hard to find-well, at least in Romania- but nowadays all the fashionistas seem to have forgotten about them and it’s a pity as these shoes are both fun and very comfortable. True, fashion trends come and go, but in my book, these shoes are forever trendy. I am biased because I do admit to having them in three more colours, so you’ll probably see more and more of them.

IMG_2997

IMG_2993

On me:

Dress – H&M; Shoes – Melissa x Vivienne Westwood; Bag – Furla; Bling – Pandora, Tomorrowland and Constantin Nautics; Watch – Daniel Wellington

What better bag to match my navy style than the one I bought on the way to London (literally on the plane) from Furla? This bag turns out to be a way better investment that I expected, even D is amazed how many things it matches. This only goes to prove that women are always right when it comes to investing in fashion and men should always listen to them! Bling wise, I think you’ve noticed by now that I am a very loyal person and only add a maximum of two pieces to my usual stuff. For today’s fashion post, I decided to add to my usual jewellery a bracelet from Constantin Nautics that perfectly matched my navy, white and red accents.

IMG_3019

IMG_3024

On D:

Shorts – H&M; T-shirt – Jack&Jones; Shoes – Tommy Hilfiger; Bling – Fossil and Constantin Nautics; Watch – Daniel Wellington

D always seems to get excited whenever there’s a navy theme and I think that’s maybe because he does have a lot of stuff to match that. This outfit is not really a complicated or out of the box outfit. I’d actually call it his summer uniform as he always seems to wear one of his numerous H&M shorts with either a plain shirt or a polo shirt. I do have to admit that even though this makes him a bit boring fashion wise, I do love the way he always manages to not look out of place despite the fact that he’s basically wearing the same thing. I guess his good taste is to ‘blame’ for that! The fact that he decided to wear yet again his boat shoes and that I haven’t noticed that they were the ones he wore last week as well, goes to prove that you don’t really have to have a lots of clothes to look different each time. Well that rule only applies for men, as us women do need to have loads of clothes mainly out of principle!

He also chose a Constantin Nautics bracelet to match mine, and we both decided to wear our Daniel Wellington watches with one of our many matching straps. This is the reason I love our Daniel Wellington watches so much! We can change the strap in 10 seconds and instantly it matches every singe outfit in our closet. If we decide to put on a more fancy leather strap, we can wear out watches to whatever type of formal event comes along. Him being just as loyal to his jewellery as I am, he couldn’t leave his Fossil bracelet at home!

IMG_3036

I think this is my favourite photoshoot so far, but then again, I always seem to be thinking that whenever I see the most recent photos. As boring as this marine theme is, you’ll probably going to see it a few more times this summer as it appears that we have a lot of navy stuff in our closet!

We jumped the fence…

Ever since we started this blog, suddenly we’re all fashionable and matchy-matchy! Kidding, my sarcasm sometimes gets too out of hand…most of the time we used to play match-up with our clothes in the past, but that wasn’t necessarily intentional. This time we put together our outfits starting with our wedding sneakers. Yes, as a side note, we wore sneakers after midnight on our wedding day, in spite of my mother’s protest, and trust me, there were some serious protests! She just couldn’t get her head around going from Louboutin sandals to Converse. But since we always enjoyed annoying people with our sense of style and since we always loved Converse shoes, we went ahead and did it. Our wedding theme was lemon-lime (yeah, shocker!) therefore we ended up with custom made Chucks in green and yellow. Getting them was a pain in the a** as Converse doesn’t ship their custom made shoes to Romania. As per usual, things have a certain way of sorting themselves out, and so it happens that during that specific year a close friend (also one of the bridesmaids) was getting her masters degree in New York and POWFF!!! I got the desired shoes with the date engraved on the back and everything… That was one lucky coincidence or maybe it was meant to be!

Back to the photos and off of nostalgia road… The pics were taken on our way back from the seaside last Saturday obviously on the highway. Because we just couldn’t miss the amazing dawn light. The funny thing was that at some point D told me to jump the fence into the wheat crops and I kept telling him that I’m way too short to be able to jump over that. In the end, I succumbed to his demands and before we knew it, we were trespassing, but in D‘s defence, he was right about the crisp green crops against the dawn sun. It would’ve been a pity to not capture that.

IMG_0757

On me:

Blouse – ZARA

Pants – ZARA

Shoes – Converse

Blazer – H&M

Bag – Michael Kors

Bling – Swarovski

Green has always been my favourite colour as whenever I see green my mind instantly drifts off to the power of life (that was Captain Planet-ish of me! – 30 yo will understand the pun). I guess D‘s greatest weapon when conquering my heart were his intense green eyes. As you’ve probably noticed by now, this is not necessarily a fashion post (more like a monologue), as we’re by no means fashionable, rather comfy dressed. But since the photos turned out really nice and WordPress asks for some sort of category, here it is, among the other fashion posts. In all honesty, this blog starts to be more and more like a diary.

The only piece of clothing new that I’m wearing in these pics and that you can actually find in stores are the pants, which, obviously are from ZARA. As for the rest of the outfit, since you’ve noticed that I’m the colour combo type, I have to say that I love the white-green pair as in my mind it’s crisp and fresh. D, on the other hand, wears a couple (literally) of pieces on that you can currently buy. The amazing G-Star RAW pants and the t-shirt from Paul Smith. Note how his top is white with green stripes – told you we match!

IMG_0750

On D:

T-shirt – Paul Smith

Pants – G-Star RAW

Shoes – Converse

Watch – Casio Edifice Infinity Red Bull limited edition

Even though you might be under the impression that we intentionally try and match the setting of our shoots with our clothes, let me just remind you that we both work full time and we wouldn’t have time for that even if we wanted to. The way this goes is we get dressed for whatever activity we have planned, we like what the other one is wearing and conclude that we match so I decide that we should capture that moment and the perfect background just literally appears in our path. Just so you know, I’m not praying for this combo to be a winner for the summer as well as I’m still stuck on the yellow-blue one!

The thing I like most about these pants is the fact that they’re tailored neutrally enough to dress them up or down depending on the occasion. For example, when we finally got home, I only had about 5 mins to get ready to go out to dinner with friends and I needed to do was change the beloved Converse shoes with my Fifi nude Louboutin pumps and I was fancy enough for any restaurant. Basically all is needed is a creative combination of accessories and maybe switching the blouse for a graphic t-shirt for a complete makeover. Also loving the colour of these pants, as to me, it’s the perfectly balanced combination between yellow and green. Kudos to ZARA for designing these very affordable good-for-any-occasion pants. Of course i got them in beige as well and I’m thinking on getting them in another darker colour. But there’s no surprise there as I bet you’re starting to get used to my shopping habits!

A little bit…CRAZY!!!

As you know by now, we decided to run away from Bucharest for (only) one day to the seaside. There’s no hotel to review as we stayed at our place there, but we do need to talk about some of the great places to eat while you’re there especially since the swimsuit season is about to start.

IMG_0698

In order to give you a good and relevant review on a place we need to have eaten there at least twice simply put because one time could be just luck. This time we decided, since we were only staying for one night, to eat at the same place for dinner and lunch the next day. Surely, if we have an unpleasant experience for the first time, we wouldn’t risk going there for the second time. This weekend D chose CRAZY Restaurant (he usually takes care of our food itinerary wherever we go) in Constanta. First of all, if you decide on spending your summer holiday/weekend in Mamaia, you should know that aside from very few places there, you’d be better off eating in Constanta both mentally and physically. Usually restaurants on the beach tend to be mediocre at best and quite overpriced.

IMG_0709

Back to our CRAZY experience… Turns out this restaurant was a very good choice, but I would expect nothing less from D when it comes to food as he tends to do his research very thoroughly. First thing we did when we reached our destination was go out for dinner, turns out that wasn’t the best idea as unpacking, even for one day, tends to be very difficult after a bottle of wine. That didn’t ruin our dinner experience though… Because it’s dinner we’re talking about, the light in some of the photos is quite bad, but the atmosphere there was really nice thanks to that bad-for-photos light. As you can see, the pics we took on Saturday at lunch are a lot better.

Ever since I first entered the restaurant, I liked the interior design very much, it’s fresh and eclectic. This place has a few distinct areas for the different activities you want to conduct there: it has a bar-lounge area, a coffee shop area, the said restaurant area and an extremely beautiful terrace. For more photos (professionally taken) you can check their Facebook page.

IMG_0722

The good:

As I said, the interior design is a very big plus, the location seems to be a good one for Constanta and the menu is very varied with lots of dishes to choose from. Mainly it’s international cuisine with a few fancy dishes. You can find anything from soups, salads, ribs, poultry (cooked in a thousand ways), all sorts of meat to even raw cakes. The staff was very friendly and well trained and the food came very quick. Basically we ate the whole time we were there. One could argue that the restaurant wasn’t full on that Friday evening, but it’s a good thing then that we came back on a fully booked Saturday afternoon and the food came just as quick, so no shortage of staff there.

Back to the dinner…we started with a plate of home-made nachos as we were very hungry from the road and we thought we’d have to wait a long time for a main course (we were wrong and full by the time we finished our nachos). D then had some ribs and I had the turkey breast and they were both as expected delicious and no, that wasn’t the hunger speaking for us. We decided to skip dessert and have a cheese plate instead for the remaining rose wine from Gramma. Overall, the experience was a very good one, hence we decided to come back for lunch the next day.

IMG_0723

IMG_0724

IMG_0711

On Saturday, because the weather was very nice we had lunch on the terrace. D had the thai soup, which in my opinion looked like an aquarium with murky green water and totally grossed me out, but I can’t stand fish or anything coming from the sea. D said it was amazing so that was that with his soup. I had the ginger-carrot soup which was superbly done as you could clearly feel the rich flavour as opposed to other places where the carrot soup was quite bland. D also had the crispy taco (I was full at that point or rather I was preserving myself for dessert) with one of the best oxtail meat we’ve ever tasted. For desert we both had the raw chocolate cake and the carrot cake after which we were both sold on the place. In my opinion it’s very hard to not screw up raw cakes, but this one was very good.

IMG_0703

IMG_0707

I really appreciate when you can find raw or vegan dishes in a menu, not because I’m a vegan, but because it shows that they are interested in satisfying as many people as possible.

As a price point, this place is very decent, on the low-medium level as our dinner check came at around 50€ wine included and the lunch check was about 30€.

The bad:

The first bad thing I’d like to mention about this place is that their wine list is very poor, with only three varieties for each type (colour). The other thing that annoyed me was the fact that I really can’t understand how you can serve such good food with frozen potato fries. It really bugs me! It was quite obvious that they use top quality ingredients and all the other sides were made from fresh vegetables so I really have to wonder why one would screw it up that way… Well that didn’t bother us too much as you can always choose a different type of side dish. However this is a place that we’ll definitely come back to whenever we will be in Constanta.

Since we’ll probably go to the seaside quite often, we’ll try and put together a list of go-to places to eat there just to help everyone avoid those nasty places I was talking about at the beginning of the post.

CRAZY is defiantly on our good-food list for the seaside!

we found an evenly matched bridge!

This weekend we decided to run away…to the seaside, since we both had that on our minds since Thursday! Most of what I’m wearing is new, so this time, when you click on a link you’ll find those exact pieces… I really love this yellow-dark blue combo and hope with all my heart that the Fashion-fairy considers this colour scheme a winner for this summer!

I will stop the rambling right now, cos this isn’t supposed to be a text-posting, and just let you enjoy our photos taken by D.

One more thing, I didn’t struggle with this hat as much and I think I’m getting the handle on wearing hats!

Seaside vibes…

Boy, was today a weird day…but at least D and I matched in the fashion department. Since the last couple of days it has been really warm outside, like summer-warm, about 30 degrees C, my mind kept drifting off to the seaside…so, what better way to make it feel like I’m near the sea than dark blue stripes. The only difference between this outfit worn at the office and the same outfit worn last summer (no clothing items from this season in this post either) is the fact that today I’m wearing stilettos. I love this combo a lot, and I’ve done it a hundred times, sure, different items, I’m talking about the blue and white striped combo. As D leaves home after me (sometimes he even wakes up after I leave) I was very happy when he sent me a pic from the office and I realised that our outfits matched colour-wise. Of course that’s because great minds think alike!

Back to the outfits! The top and pants are both from ZARA (I seem to have a lot of stuff for the office from them) and I think that’s my favourite white top. The blazer is from H&M and the bling is from Swarovski. See that ring? I have it in pink as well (of course) because I couldn’t resist. Let me tell you about the bag, it’s Michael by Michael Kors and I got it for a very low price on The Outnet. This is an online store with designer clothes that are up to 80% off. As this bag, in my opinion has a great shape and is white, I think it’s going to be one of those pieces that I’ll wear forever (or until I see another white bag). The shoes are Christian Louboutin, the So Kate 120 in denim. I have to mention that spending an entire day at work on 12cm stilettos almost got me in tears…but they look great and I have to grow-up (literally) and learn how to walk in 12cm heels all day. That’s on my bucket list for 2016.

D decided, like me, on an almost entire ZARA outfit – told you that great minds think alike! Apparently we are loyal customers. The shoes are Condor Custom Made and the belt is Damat. To be honest, I love the fact that he is such a great dresser, he sometimes dresses better than me. I can always count on him to look appropriate in any situation and he never ever needs me to show him what to wear (most men do!).

Anyway, when we met to take these photos I felt as though the whole horrible day I had at work happened ages ago. He has that effect on me every time!
