Dottie!!!

Recently I have started loving dresses, especially since they are a huge confidence boost for me right now as they all are non-maternity and my size (XS) and still fit me nicely. The only real issue is the fact that finding small sized maternity hosiery turns out to be harder and harder every day. Aside from the basic black – which I only found two pairs of – all the other nice autumnal colours are either size L or XL. That is the only frustrating part about shopping right now, but that too is a confidence booster as I feel that I’ve reached the eighth month of pregnancy without much damage to my figure despite the cravings and the fact that I wasn’t able to go to the gym.

Another great thing thus far about my pregnancy is the fact that I felt great throughout this period and hope this will stay the same for the remaining two (almost) months. It is rather true that recently I have been starting to really feel the fact that I am pregnant with all sorts of uncomfortable sensations mainly in my back but that is nothing like the actual pain I’ve been told/read about, more like an inconvenience so there is nothing to whine about. I have been loosing my breath more often than before and switching from one side to another during the night turns out to be more difficult than anticipated (just ask D who had the pleasure of meeting my pregnancy pillow face first one night – I swear it was not intentional), but aside from that everything has been going smoothly.

On me:

Dress – ZARA; Vest – H&M; Boots – Rachel Zoe; Bag – Chloe; Hat – ZARA; Bling – Pandora, Swarovski and Tous; Watch – Apple

So after a quick recap on how I am feeling thus far, it is time to talk a bit about the outfits we are wearing in these photos. Yes, again, I wore a pair of over the knee boots, but like I said a million times, I just love them! This time I chose my black Rachel Zoe boots because I like to keep a balanced rotation where my boots/shoes are concerned and realised that I haven’t worn them in quite a while. I paired them with a new dress from ZARA that D bought for me while I was having my hair done  – yes, I did not try it on upon buying, but it is a size xs and fits me perfectly. As you know, I am trying as much as possible to buy as few maternity clothes as possible because I really want to make sure that I spend my money right and that I will be able to wear the stuff I buy for as long as possible. For example, there is absolutely no reason why I will not wear this dress over and over again after the little princess comes and I get back into my pre-pregnancy shape. Had I invested in a maternity dress I would’ve ended up with a loose, long and shapeless dress after springing back into my usual shape – so to all mamas-to-be out there, try to buy as few maternity clothes as possible.

On D:

T-shirt – G-Star Raw; Cardigan – ZARA; Jeans – ZARA; Shoes – Replay; Bling – Fossil and Tous; Watch – Longines

Since this was turning out to be yet another black and white outfit, I decided to finish it with my Chloe black bag – yes, I still haven’t bought another black bag so this will have to do for now. I also started really enjoying hats recently and therefore I just had to wear this black fluffy one from ZARA. In order to keep myself rather on the warm side (although it wasn’t a particularly cold day) I opted for my long black vest from H&M that I bought at the beginning of this autumn.

D really wanted to do more colour than me and opted for a light pink t-shirt form G-Star Raw that I can’t seem to find online despite him buying it a week ago (I’ve linked and alternative). He matched his t-shirt and my dots with his socks (Happy Socks I think) which made me very happy the moment I noticed – when I took the photos. He also wore his black ZARA jeans and a grey cardigan also from ZARA. I just love the big chunky cardigan look for men during autumn as I feel it looks infinitely better then a jacket. He finished the whole outfit with a pair of Replay sneaks that were actually a much-needed splash of colour in our photoshoot.

We both wore quite a lot of accessories… I went for my Pandora bracelet that was filled by my family and friends (I have one that was filled solely by D) and the Crystaldust bracelet from Swarovski. I also could not leave my Tous ring at home especially since I feel it works wonderfully with the Pandora bracelet. As per usual I wore my Apple watch while D wore his Longines watch. He also decided to wear both his Fossil bracelet as well as his new Tous bracelet and I have to say that I really love it when he puts this much effort into choosing his accessories.

Hopefully everything will go smoothly from now on and by this time next week I will be able to show you both the completed nursery as well as some pics from the upcoming Baby-Shower this weekend.

Into the woods…

It seems that every single time we decide to take photos on this forest road we are wearing some sort of yellow shade (see this post here as well). None the less, it seems more and more like I am slowly but surely turning into the ‘elephant-element’ of these photoshoots. Yes, I am aware by now that I will not be one of those pregnant-model-like types, but rather on the rhino-side of the issue. I will admit that I do have days when I do not feel as good about my pregnant body as I should, but then I think about all the posts about my recovery that will be featured here, on my online diary, and suddenly it doesn’t feel that bad.

As stated in an earlier post, I do not plan on investing in new and expensive clothes during this period therefore I am yet again wearing a full H&M ensemble. I did succumb to my first maternity piece – the jeans. I realised that I needed a pair of pants for those errand-packed days and even though my old jeans fit me (with a bit of struggle) they are very uncomfortable over my growing bump, so a maternity pair was necessary. I decided to chose H&M simply because I loved the fabric – it feels a bit like the Hyperflex jeans from Replay and you know I love them so much! I have to say that 100 new outfit opportunities have risen once I realised that I can wear a pair of pants and not feel like crap during this pregnancy.

On me:

Jeans – H&M; Sweater – H&M; Shoes – Puma; Bag – Michael Kors; Bling – Swarovski (bracelet and ring); Watch – Tissot T-Race

For yesterday’s errands I decided to pair the jeans with yet another H&M piece that D selected especially for me – this sweater – but I strongly suspect that he got it because it matches his shirt perfectly and he really wanted to snap some photos of it. The reality is that I love it (as I love all the stuff D choses for me) and I think that the shade of mustard-yellow is just to die for. Somehow I think this is one shade that goes well no matter what season it is. I wore my very comfortable and fun Puma sneakers and decided on completing the outfit with my navy Michael Kors bag. What was rather unusual about yesterday was the fact that we did not wear matching watches as I decided to wear my Tissot T-Race simply because I love the way it compliments my Jawbone and Swarovski bracelets.

On D:

Jeans – G-Star Raw; T-shirt – Scotch and Soda; Shoes – Converse x John Varvatos; Bling – Fossil; Watch – Aviator

D was extremely happy when he saw the colour scheme I chose because, as I told you a bit earlier, he really wanted to wear this gorgeous t-shirt form Scoth and Soda that he got a week or so ago. I also got pretty excited when he decided on wearing his G-Star Raw pants because I think that this pair is among my top three favourites form his closet and they match my (only) jeans perfectly. For comfort reasons he wore his Converse x John Varvatos sneakers and decided to keep his accessorising to a minimum with his Fossil bracelet. He also made the decision to not match my watch choices and went for his Aviator watch that he hasn’t worn in a while now.

Despite my growing baby bump and my obvious body issues, I am determined to keep on taking photos and be honest with you about everything as I find it liberating to talk (write) a bit about the down-days. I strongly believe everybody has them, but I am very thankful that mine are very rare and the nasty feelings just pass quickly. In the end, all that maters is that the lovely baby is growing healthily, I feel physically great and D supports me every single minute. So not much to complain!

Japanese affairs…

Yesterday afternoon our excitement grew more and more as the hours passed because we were supposed to visit D‘s sister and her husband and see their newly redesigned Japanese garden (with white marble, moss and everything!). We were so, so impressed from the moment we stepped inside the Japanese heaven. Keep in mind while looking at these pics that the garden is still a work in progress, this meaning that the moss still has a lot of expanding to do, but despite that, we couldn’t help ourselves and ended up doing a full photoshoot on the spot.

image

I do have to confess that I left home with the thought of that photoshoot clearly stuck in my mind, and seeing how the photos turned out, we’ll definitely do another photoshoot when the moss will be fully grown. They got their inspiration from their three week honeymoon in Japan and they did an amazing job. I’m only sorry that neither of us has any before photos to show you exactly what it used to look like.

On me:

Top – ZARA; Vest – ZARA; Jeans – Replay; Shoes – DC Shoes; Bag – Chloe; Bling – Swarovski, Tomorrowland and Pandora; Watch – Tissot; Hat – ZARA

Since we were expecting a large amount of white marble, we both decided to wear mostly black to create a nice contrast in photos. Obviously since I rarely ever wear only black, I felt the need to combine it with white. This black and white combo is such a classic, but yesterday I decided to give it a bit of festival feeling to the whole look. Despite the fact that the weather was absolutely horrendous, wearing festival inspired clothes always brings a bit of sunshine in my heart.

On D:

T-shirt – Tommy Hilfiger; Jeans – G-Star RAW; Shoes – Nike; Bling – Constantin Nautics (bracelet 1 and bracelet 2); Watch – Tissot

I opted for high waisted shinny black jeans from Replay and, just as I was getting dressed I started laughing because I remembered how, when I was a teenager I couldn’t stand high waisted anything and only wore the lowest wist I could find and my big butt was always half out (yeah, I always had a big butt!), but now, the situation is fully reversed and I rarely, if ever, wear anything low waisted (except for bikinis!). I paired this extremely comfortable jeans with an embroidered blouse and white vest, both from ZARA.

Because I was fully aware of the fact that we were going to climb rocks and do a lot of walking through marble, I opted from my very comfortable DC Shoes and, looking in the mirror, this was the exact moment I realised I was pulling a fully festival look on. That made me decide to complete the ensemble with my ZARA hat and Chloe bag. Bling wise, aside from my usual rings, I also wore a black cocktail ring from Swarovski and a leather bracelet from Tomorrowland with an optimistic message written on it. Because last Monday I realised that we were a bit boring when it came to our watch rotation, we both decided to wear out Tissot T-Race watches.

image

D went all black and looking at the photos, I have come to the conclusion that his decision was better than my combo decision because he contrasts the white marble much better than me. He wore his dark G-Star Raw pants with his black Tommy Hilfiger v-neck t-shirt. Like me, he also chose comfortable footwear – but, then again, he always does – and went for his black leather Nikes that he has had for ages. He did show a bit more interest than usual in his bling game, choosing not one but two Constantin Nautics bracelets and left his brown Fossil bracelet at home.

We really can’t wait for all the moss to spread! Obviously since we loved it so much, you’ll probably see more shoots happening in this beautiful garden, assuming that the owners will let us in again considering the fact that it was very hard for us to stop taking pictures. Some of the most lovely pics of the two of us were take by my brother-in-law hence the professional feel of them, as opposed to our usual self taken pics!

We jumped the fence…

Ever since we started this blog, suddenly we’re all fashionable and matchy-matchy! Kidding, my sarcasm sometimes gets too out of hand…most of the time we used to play match-up with our clothes in the past, but that wasn’t necessarily intentional. This time we put together our outfits starting with our wedding sneakers. Yes, as a side note, we wore sneakers after midnight on our wedding day, in spite of my mother’s protest, and trust me, there were some serious protests! She just couldn’t get her head around going from Louboutin sandals to Converse. But since we always enjoyed annoying people with our sense of style and since we always loved Converse shoes, we went ahead and did it. Our wedding theme was lemon-lime (yeah, shocker!) therefore we ended up with custom made Chucks in green and yellow. Getting them was a pain in the a** as Converse doesn’t ship their custom made shoes to Romania. As per usual, things have a certain way of sorting themselves out, and so it happens that during that specific year a close friend (also one of the bridesmaids) was getting her masters degree in New York and POWFF!!! I got the desired shoes with the date engraved on the back and everything… That was one lucky coincidence or maybe it was meant to be!

Back to the photos and off of nostalgia road… The pics were taken on our way back from the seaside last Saturday obviously on the highway. Because we just couldn’t miss the amazing dawn light. The funny thing was that at some point D told me to jump the fence into the wheat crops and I kept telling him that I’m way too short to be able to jump over that. In the end, I succumbed to his demands and before we knew it, we were trespassing, but in D‘s defence, he was right about the crisp green crops against the dawn sun. It would’ve been a pity to not capture that.

Blouse – ZARA

Pants – ZARA

Shoes – Converse

Blazer – H&M

Bag – Michael Kors

Bling – Swarovski

Green has always been my favourite colour as whenever I see green my mind instantly drifts off to the power of life (that was Captain Planet-ish of me! – 30 yo will understand the pun). I guess D‘s greatest weapon when conquering my heart were his intense green eyes. As you’ve probably noticed by now, this is not necessarily a fashion post (more like a monologue), as we’re by no means fashionable, rather comfy dressed. But since the photos turned out really nice and WordPress asks for some sort of category, here it is, among the other fashion posts. In all honesty, this blog starts to be more and more like a diary.

The only piece of clothing new that I’m wearing in these pics and that you can actually find in stores are the pants, which, obviously are from ZARA. As for the rest of the outfit, since you’ve noticed that I’m the colour combo type, I have to say that I love the white-green pair as in my mind it’s crisp and fresh. D, on the other hand, wears a couple (literally) of pieces on that you can currently buy. The amazing G-Star RAW pants and the t-shirt from Paul Smith. Note how his top is white with green stripes – told you we match!

On D:

T-shirt – Paul Smith

Shoes – Converse

Watch – Casio Edifice Infinity Red Bull limited edition

Even though you might be under the impression that we intentionally try and match the setting of our shoots with our clothes, let me just remind you that we both work full time and we wouldn’t have time for that even if we wanted to. The way this goes is we get dressed for whatever activity we have planned, we like what the other one is wearing and conclude that we match so I decide that we should capture that moment and the perfect background just literally appears in our path. Just so you know, I’m not praying for this combo to be a winner for the summer as well as I’m still stuck on the yellow-blue one!

The thing I like most about these pants is the fact that they’re tailored neutrally enough to dress them up or down depending on the occasion. For example, when we finally got home, I only had about 5 mins to get ready to go out to dinner with friends and I needed to do was change the beloved Converse shoes with my Fifi nude Louboutin pumps and I was fancy enough for any restaurant. Basically all is needed is a creative combination of accessories and maybe switching the blouse for a graphic t-shirt for a complete makeover. Also loving the colour of these pants, as to me, it’s the perfectly balanced combination between yellow and green. Kudos to ZARA for designing these very affordable good-for-any-occasion pants. Of course i got them in beige as well and I’m thinking on getting them in another darker colour. But there’s no surprise there as I bet you’re starting to get used to my shopping habits!
